- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆September 15, 2019, by dzelda zNope, never again. We thought we were doing the right thing by ordering our dishwasher and freezer from a local business. We were wrong. It started out fine; our salesperson, David, was knowledgeable and helpful. We thought all was well. The dishwasher delivery was delayed, but was eventually delivered and properly installed. Due to what was happening with the freezer, I decided to live with a small scratch on the dishwasher rather than have to deal with Gerhard's again. The full-size freezer was delivered with a dented and scratched door. After being told it would be no problem to replace the door, rather than having to repack freezer contents twice more, we accepted the delivery. The door was to be delivered to our home - which did not seem right. It would be dropped off and if no one was home, we would have to bring it inside. (And we were erroneously told a signature was required for delivery.) Additionally, if bad weather ensued, the box would be wet and exposed to the elements. None of that sat well. David said he would try to have the door delivered to the store and then brought for installation. None of that happened. The door somehow was 'lost'. I found this out because I constantly had to call customer service and the store. Customer service is a misnomer - there is none (hang on, there is one tiny bright spot in this). Calls were not returned, we were not kept up to date as to what was happening. Responsibility was constantly deflected - including by the store manager, who would not help by saying there were too many hands in the pot. Why did he not take the reins and figure out what was happening? The callback by our salesperson did not happen, as evidently our salesperson was ill. Why did the store manager not let me know? The very first Customer Service rep I spoke to told me I'd have to call the manufacturer about the door, that Gerhard's was not responsible. Our salesperson kept telling us he wanted us to be happy, but at Gerhard's it seems there in no synchronization or continuity from department to department. I was in a nightmare of irresponsibility. Back to the lost door. Yes, lost, and we took half a day to sit and wait for it. No one called, no notification. Even customer service told us it was being delivered. When I questioned it, I was told that I had to call the shipping company! What?? Enter Ashley Williams. Ashley actually wanted to help and in the end, was the only person who seemed to truly care about me as a customer. Ashley ended up navigating the waters and getting back to me a number of times. She found out about the lost door. She apologized every step of the way - especially when letting me know the door would not be installed until after the New Year. Without Ashley, we would have cancelled the order. I can only hope Gerhard's realizes how lucky they are to have her. We had added costs (tips - the delivery guy brought the door in for us) and many headaches during this ordeal. There are more details, but this gives the angst of what happened. I cannot recommend buying from Gerhard's.
